Boston Baby~~~~!!!!
I was so very lucky to go on this amazing trip with Russ and his friend from work, Ben. Russ & Ben went to an amazing Conference during the day (taught by Harvard Professors) which they really enjoyed ..........but after a long day......that didn't stop them!!! Did we do things @ night!!!! There is soooo much to see and EAT in Boston!!! Little Italy, Mike's Pastries, Deli's, Seafood, Chowdah!!! We had a FANTASTIC time!!
In fact they were the other Ben's (our Ben's)famous last words when he dropped of Russ from the Airport after our trip...........Ben ~ you are a funny guy!!!! It was so great to get to know you, thanks for letting me "crash" your trip!!!!
Well, you can't go to Boston without going to Cheers for a beer (by the way........NOBODY knew my name!!!!!!) ~~~~or~~~~ having some of Boston's FAMOUS "Chowdah"........It was sooooooo delicious - I had it every chance I got!!!
Oh what fun we had!!! It was extremely cold...........but that didn't stop us ~ we just bundled up with more clothes!!!! We walked the Boston’s Freedom Trail, a 2.5 mile historic walking trail. Reliving the story of the American Revolution in its original setting – real buildings and places – where the patriots engaged in daring and dangerous activity to overthrow England’s rule of the colonies. It was so amazing to see all the HISTORY!!! We had our own personal Tour guide RUSS!!! You were the best Russers!!!!
The Old North Church, which was where the signal was given to launch Paul Revere's ride on April 18th 1775 "One if by land & two if by sea"
The Old State House was the center of all political life and debate in colonial Boston. On July 18, 1776, citizens gathered in the street to hear the Declaration of Independence read from the building's balcony, the first public reading in Massachusetts.
Built around 1680, this house is the oldest building in downtown Boston. It served as the home of silversmith Paul Revere and his family from 1770 to 1800. Paul Revere is famous for his "midnight ride" to Lexington, Massachusetts informing Samuel Adams and John Hancock that the British were coming to arrest them.
The Bunker Hill Monument, the site of the first major battle of the American Revolution fought on June 17, 1775. "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" is the legendary order attributed to Colonel William Prescott to make sure that each shot would count.
Walking along the Campus of Harvard was so incredible!!! ~ we tried to get into the Library, but were denied!!! (I wanted to see all of the students studying on the long tables with those green table lights, we see in the movies). We went to the Chapel on campus, that was so beautiful!!
I also took a commuter train to Salem to see where the Witch Hunts took place. I was the only one in all the tours ~ it was kindof funny!! I felt bad for the actors, acting for just one person!!! Oh well, it was very interesting ~~~ Those girls who would point fingers at "those witches" were FREAKS!!!!! Walking around the quaint town of Salem, there were alot of shops that housed crystal balls, tarot cards etc............I guess even though the "original" witches weren't real.................it has become a breeding ground for the new witches!!!
I took one of those "Duck Tours" a W.W. II style amphibious landing vehicle. The ConDUCKtor takes you on a tour of the city of Boston, and just when you think you've seen it all, there's more. It's time for "Splashdown" as your ConDUCKtor splashes your DUCK right into the Charles River for a breathtaking view of the Boston and Cambridge skylines. Guess What!!! ~ I got to DRIVE the Duck Boat!!!!........ and yeah I had to drive it under that bridge!!! it was awesome!!!!
WHAT A GREAT TIME I HAD IN BOSTON!!! So much good food to eat & so little time!!! Thanks to my Bwuther Wuss for making this happen for me!!!! You're the bestest!!! I love you!!!!
